Fifth grade students at Oswegatchie participated in the Amazing Shake competition on January 31st in front of parents, district administration, school staff and community members. Founded by the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, Georgia, the Amazing Shake is a program in which students are put to the test to showcase their talents related to manners, discipline, respect, and professional conduct. In the weeks before the contest, students attended before-school activities that Oswegatchie teacher Allison Gallis organized this year. “Prior to the competition, students learn the nuances of professional human interaction as they are taught skills such as how to give a proper handshake, how to “work a room,” how to give a successful interview, and how to remain composed under pressure.
