Amazing Shake

Amazing Shake Competition
Posted on 02/21/2019

Fifth grade students at Oswegatchie participated in the Amazing Shake competition on January 31st in front of parents, district administration, school staff and community members.  Founded by the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, Georgia, the Amazing Shake is a program in which students are put to the test to showcase their talents related to manners, discipline, respect, and professional conduct. In the weeks before the contest, students attended before-school activities that Oswegatchie teacher Allison Gallis organized this year.  “Prior to the competition, students learn the nuances of professional human interaction as they are taught skills such as how to give a proper handshake, how to “work a room,” how to give a successful interview, and how to remain composed under pressure. The goal is to prepare our students so that they are able to present themselves exceptionally well for opportunities today as well as those that will come in the future.” Adapted from the Amazing Shake - http://www.ronclarkacademy.com/nationals.

Thank you to Ms. Gallis for initiating and organizing this event and to our amazing fifth grade students who represented Oswegatchie in a wonderful manner.  The three finalists from the competition were interviewed on CT Style on Thursday, February 7th on WTNH.

Fifth grade student Adyson Wiseman was the overall winner and will be going to Nationals on February 22nd.  Best of luck to Adyson!
